Maruti Suzuki confirms diesel and CNG powered LCV - to compete with Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo

If you are a regular reader of Wheel-O-Mania, you would be knowing that Maruti Suzuki is working upon a mini LCV which would be the first product to mark its presence in Light Commercial Vehicle segment. The vehicle which is currently under development is codenamed as Y9T and will be launched in 2015.

The country's largest car maker is also working on the Diesel engine which is a 2 cylinder 0.8L engine and is also scheduled to be ready by 2015. This is currently called as small diesel engine and will power the YL7 vehicle, which will be launched soon as replacement of A-Star and Estilo with only petrol variant and will be re-introduced in 2015 with the Diesel engine.

The Diesel engine will also power the LCV and is expected to be rolled out from the Sanand factory. However no confirmation on the same has been done by the Japanese car maker. Also, it is still under discussion that whether the new car will be sold through the existing Maruti dealerships or new dealerships for Commercial vehicles will be made.

Stay tuned for more information on the same.
