Breaking news ! Ford EcoSport - Diesel variant recalled in India

The much anticipated, much hyped and super awaited car of the year - Ford EcoSport has been recalled just two weeks after its formal launch in India.

The car has been recalled as the company needs to relocate the glow plug module in the car.

The company has released a statement which says, “As a part of routine checks, we discovered a potential concern with EcoSport diesel variants related to the glow plug module which requires relocating the module. We are contacting customers to take their vehicle to their Ford dealership to have the work carried out.

The glow plug module is an extremely important component for the diesel engines. These glow plug has a heating element at the top. Whenever ignition is provided by the key to the engine, the heating element gets electrified due to its electrical resistance nature and emits light into visible spectrum, hence the "Glow Plug". They then send the heat generated into the engine and warm the engine block immediately surrounding the cylinders.

"We are contacting customers to take their vehicle to their Ford dealership to have the work carried out. No accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue and this is a proactive, voluntary recall action to ensure customers' safety and satisfaction,"the spokesperson added

The company thus requests all its owners to take their vehicle to their respective dealerships and get the part replaced free of cost. The EcoSport was launched a little over two weeks back with the diesel variants starting at Rs 6.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). According to reports, the car has gotten 20,000 bookings already.
