Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja group company and a major Heavy duty maker in Indian market has started exporting Dost LCV to SAARC nations. Dost, has already been sold 50,000 units in the country.
To our surprise, the company had already started exporting Dost LCV to export markets in March 2013 only and also plans to export another 2.5T vehicle to export nations. As of now, export of Dost stands at 1,200 units.
Mr. V Sumantran, Vice Chairman, Ashok Leyland said -
Typically we started with the SAARC and over time we will take it to the other markets. So far we have entered the SAARC and now we are looking at 3 other markets which we will announce in the next 2-3 months. About 1,200 units have been exported. The exports commenced sometime in the months of February-March this year.
The major competitor of Dost still remains Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo in Indian market.
