While the Korean carmaker, Hyundai Motors India Limited is working on another sub-4 meter hatchback "Brilliant", and will be launched in couple of months from now, probably October 2013, the carmaker has already started working on facelifted version of its premium hatchback - i20. The same is expected to be launched in Q3 2014.
The car was launched in year 2008 to replace the outgoing Getz and since then the car has been selling good in India. The car also received a mid life facelift last year with couple of cosmetic changes and is now preparing itself for a next gen model in 2014. The car was spotted testing in Tamil Nadu, the place which houses the Hyundai factory.
Though, the car is already under the fluidic category, but couple of more sleek designs and curves on the exterior of the car should not amaze us alot. Expect the next gen i20 and i20 / Brilliant to be more fluidic and more feature enabled than the currently ongoing versions.
The Hyundai i20 is the benchmark in the B+ segment when it comes to the sheer number of features and top notch interiors. The facelifted model could continue that facet of the car. However, most enthusiasts would want sharper handling and more feel engineered into the i20's steering. If Hyundai has already realized this from various customers feedback and is already working on the same and could match it, at par with VW's Polo or Ford's Figo, expect the car to be the best seller among hatchbacks in several Asian and european countries.
