Isuzu to manufacture MU-7 SUV and D-Max at Hindustan Motor's Chennai facility

We just announced yesterday that Hindustan Motor's joint venture partner Mitsubishi has stopped the production of Cedia Sports, Lancer EVOX and Outlander SUV. What next was everybody's question ! Here's is the answer to what will now be manufactured there !

As officially announced by Isuzu, it would use HM's Thiruvallur, Chennai facility to assemble MU-7 SUV and D-max pick up trucks. The company had already launched this monster looking SUV in India (Check out details here). The company had already displayed their vehicles in Hyderebad and Coimbatore and test marketing these products.

The two automakers signed an agreement today in Chennai. Commenting on the development, Mr. Takashi Kikuchi, President, Isuzu Motors India, said:

The collaboration with Hindustan Motors will support us by carrying out assembly of our products at Thiruvallur which is about 70 kms from Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, where our own local manufacturing facility is planned to come up. We can thereby advance the scope of our sales operations and increase the scale of supply volumes without waiting for our local manufacturing facility to be ready.
