Exclusive - Tata Motors to launch new car X0 from Sanand, powered with 3 engine options

As per our confirmed sources, Tata Motors is working on a new car from its Sanand plant.  The new car which will be launched only in 2015 is currently under development phase and will replace the exisiting Indica range.

The new global car will be powered by 3 engines options with both Petrol and Diesel options. The carmaker is currently working on new generation 1.2L 3 cylinder petrol engine and also 1.05L 3 cylinder diesel engine. On the sidelines, it is also information that Tata might also launch this with a new more powerful turbocharged petrol engine, which will be 1.2L Turbocharged engine.

The new car is being produced at Sanand plant considering the overall underutilization of the plant. With capacity utilisation at less than 20% at present, the company is taking a major hit on its cost per car from Sanand. The idea is to improve capacity utilisation and gain from the tax incentives too," said the person, who requested to not name him. The new car will be based on Indica platform.
