Audi is looking to expand its current range of SUV line-up and is gearing itself for some more models than its current Q3, Q5 and Q7 variants of SUV.
Audi research and development boss, Wolfgang Durheimer, has revealed that the brand is working on an even more luxurious SUV to sit above the Q7 in the line up. Likely to be badged an Audi Q8, the newcomer would go head to head with the new Range Rover and Bentley’s SUV, due in 2015.
The new Q8 could be a perfect combination of meaty looks of Range Rover Sport and luxurious interiors of A8. The boss at VW group said, I am pushing for a similar model under Lamborghini brand as well, since this falls under my job (Lamborghini is under control of Audi brand).
Durheimer also explained that there is no interbrand competition and is allowed at VW group, says, "its healthy". He explained, "There is no limit at VW on market access or price strategy as long as you have a business case," The only limits to Audi's future model expansion would be "R&D budgets and engineering man power", said Durheimer.
