Ashok Leyland to launch passenger vehicle edition of Dost in India by October 2013

Dost LCV, was the first product to roll out from the Ashok Leyland-Nissan JV. The LCV has done fairly well in the Indian market and has sold 36,000 units of Dost. The company now plans to take it one step further and launch the passenger car version of Dost.

Mr. V Sumantran, Executive Vice Chairman of Hinduja Automotive Ltd and Nissan Ashok Leyland Powertrain said that they were together contemplating launch of a 8 seater MUV version of Dost. The company is at present working on the design and would be set to launch the MUV variant of the Dost LCV.

The JV company is planning to launch the vehicle in India by October 2013.  Dr. Sumantran has also confirmed that the Stile will be launched later this year and price positioned below the Evalia. To be marketed under the name ‘Ashok Leyland Stile’ the restyled Nissan Evalia will be targeted at BPO pick-ups, airport shuttles, etc. He adds that Ashok Leyland will not aggressively market the vehicle to the personal segment, which is the Evalia’s responsibility.
