Hello Wheel-O-Manics, here we are again with the Indian Automotive Industry Update for February 2013. The market seems sluggish and slow. Vehicle makers are finding it difficult to push their vehicles out of the showroom and are offering huge discounts on their cars. The discounts have been pushed to such an extent that you come hear "Buy One get One free"
On the other side, carmakers are dolling out Limited edition variants of their cars to attract the customers. Budget 2013 too did not provide any relief to the slowing sales in Indian auto industry. Infact, increase in excise duty for SUV's by 3% has further burdened the only growing sector in India.
Nevertheless, we are here again with the Top 20 Models by Sales volumes in February 2013. The top 4 sweet spots still remains with the market leader - Maruti Suzuki, with a not so easily achievable 30% difference in 4th and 5th spot taken by Mahindra's Bolero. Eon, i10 and i20 too retain the 6th, 7th and 8th slot respectively and thereby gives a little relief to Korean carmaker in India.
