Isuzu to set up a plant in Andhra Pradesh



Japanese Utility vehicle maker, Isuzu which had already decided to place its foot in the Indian market and has already launched vehicles MU-7 SUV and D-Max pickups (read here) was also in talks with GM and HM to assembles SUV's at their manufacturing facility.

As per sources, the carmaker has decided to set up manufacturing facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh's Chittur district. As of now, Isuzu has sales office in Hyderabad and Coimbatore and is fully importing SUV's from Thailand. This new plant, with investment of INR 1,500 Crore will begin manufacturing SUV's and D-max pickup by 2016.

"We feel in the next ten years the Indian market will grow strongly," says Shigeru Wakabayashi, deputy MD, Isuzu Motors India. Its goal is to sell 80,000 vehicles in India and export 40,000 units annually.
