Ford targets to price entry level petrol variant of EcoSport in Rs 5 Lac bracket




Ford India is in news since January 2012 , last year when the Auto Expo took place and lot of crowd gathered to see the Ford's new Compact SUV - EcoSport. The carmaker was schdeuled to launch the vehicle in January 2013 whereas the vehicle launch seems to be delayed by over two months now.

It has come from sources that Ford India is agressively working on localising the components of EcoSport and is planning to launch the entry level petrol variant in the Rs 5 Lac bracket - this could also mean, the car could be launched at introductory price of Rs 5.49 Lac or even Rs 5.99 Lac. While the later seems to be more realistic, we will have to still wait for the official launch to happen to say more about the prices of modern looking Compact SUV from EcoSport.

Ford has already launched EcoSport in Brazil and has received a good response in the market - infact with recent information, Ford's EcoSport has outsold Renault's Duster in Brazil.  Ford's EcoSport is expected to launch with three engine options - 1.0L Ecoboost petrol engine, which has also received International Engine of the year award., 1.5L DV5 Diesel engine, which will be powred in New Fiesta and 1.5L petrol engine. It is also in news that car maker could initially launch only first two engine options with 1.5L Petrol engine option launch scheduled later.

The launch is expected to happen in early March 2013. Nevetheless, the carmaker will start the production of the car at its Chennai manufacturing facility by March end and the car would be delivered to its respective buyers in India by April end for select variants and May end for other variants.
