Renault Scala Automatic variant introduced - even ahead of Nissan Sunny

Renault's recently launched C segment sedan - Scala has been introduced with an Automatic variant and will hit the showrooms by the end of January 2013. The car was scheduled to hit the showrooms and we have been reporting the same to all our fans however it was widely anticipated that it would be Nissan Sunny which would be first introduced and later would spread to Renault's Scala.

The move by Renault is highly commendable and would certainly add volumes to Renault's lap. The Automatic gearbox would be available only on petrol variant and expect it to be Rs 80,000 additional than the regular petrol variants. Moreover, it would be available only in RxL and RxZ variants.

It should also be noted here that Renault's Scala would come with a CVT gearbox, making it the first automatic C-Segment sedan in India to do so. The CVT gearbox differs from the conventional automatic gearbox by the fact that it has infinite number of gear ratios which gives it the jerk free performance similar to those found in automatic scooters like Honda Activa and others.

Meanhile, Nissan is working on X-TRONIC range of CVT. The X-TRONIC range of CVT automatic transmissions are known for their high fuel economy and refined demeanour. Let us get back to Nissan India on this and let's take their view on when would their Automatic product hit the showrooms.
