Mahindra unveils two new motorcycles - Pantero and Centuro

Indian grown auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra's two wheeler arm has forayed into the motorcycle segment and has launched two 110 cc bikes. The two bikes have been designed in-house by Mahindra at their R&D centre in Pune from scratch in a record time of just 18-months.

The Pantero is positioned in the eco-commuter segment while the Centuro in the premium commuter segment. "Pantero should be out in the next couple of weeks and Centuro a few weeks thereafter," said Anoop Mathur, president, two wheeler sector and member of the group executive board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The Pantero will be available in four variants -

T1 - Self start,  Cast Alloy wheels, Digital Console
T2 - Self start, Cast Alloy wheels, Analog Console
T3 - Kick start, Cast Alloy wheels, Analog Console
T4 - Kick start, Spoke, Analog Console

Centuro, the premium segment bike would be loaded with features such as central locking, anti-theft system with an engine immobiliser, remote flip-key with LED lights, find me lights, ully-lit digital instrument cluster with service and distance-to-empty fuel indicator. Official prices would be announced at the time of the launch.

The company has invested Rs 100 crore in the research and development of the products but "it is difficult to give total investment in product development as there is a lot of common platform sharing", Mathur said.
