Great Wall Motors in talks with Gujarat government to open plant in India




Gujarat has been a hot spot destination for Automakers in India. Its emerging out to be the next auto hub in India. While Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Peugeot and other already acquired land in Gujarat, the story does not gets over here, even the eitgh largest Chinese car manufacturer - Great Wall Motors has now its eyes on Gujarat for setting up its shop in India by 2016. A company delegation was recently in India meet government, SIAM and potential suppliers, say media reports. If it succeeds, it would be the first Chinese carmaker to operate in the country without a partner.

Great Wall Motors specializes in making SUV's in China and exports to over 100 countries in the world. With over 800 Sales outlets across 80 countries in the world. Great Wall could invest about Rs 2,000-3,000 crore in the plant in Gujarat. The company is also said be in talks with the Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu state for a prospective production site.

Earlier during the last year, Great Wall's Haval SUV was seen testing in India, with couple of rumors that the Chinese company would collaborate with Sonalika - India based company however the rumors fizzled out soon.
