Tata Motors gives green signal for production of Compact SUV out of X1 platform

The current X1 platform which underpins the Vista hatch and Manza sedan is now officially announced to be ready for rolling out a Compact SUV in India. The mini SUV which will take on Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki XA-Alpha is expected to most spacious of all the models present and will be launched at a very competitive price tag.

The car is expected to have a 1.4L FIRE gasoline engine and along side would also be sold with 1.3L SDE diesel engine - which are currently doing work in Indica Vista and Manza cars.  The Indian SUV major has planned to invest over a billion USD over the next five years for product development in a bid to revive its fortunes, especially in the home markets which have been seeing a steady decline for quite a while now.

However, the products that would be rolled out of Tata Motors factory next year could be a Tata Nano CNG and Diesel variants.
