Renault Duster facelift to be launched in 2014

Renault Duster, launched in India on 04th July 2012 has marked a spectacular innings and has managed to sell 20,000 numbers in just 6 months. This is a number which the French maker would have taken years to count if they would not have launched Duster in India. The car maker was barely doing 400-500 vehicles per month before July 2012.

However, Renault did a good thing by launching the car much before the Ford EcoSport thereby taking the first mover advantage and hence making things work in its favor. Now when Ford has also launched EcoSport in the Brazilian markets, the two are competing to survive - with Renault leading with few numbers ahead of Ford, mainly due to a lower price tag of Duster than its immediate rival, EcoSport.

However, for India the case might be different. It is believed that Ford EcoSport is bound to qualify the sub-4-meter category and will thus be priced lower than Renault Duster, however we will have to wait for the official launch of Ford EcoSport in end March / early April to count on the pricing rumours.

If reports are to be believed, Renault is working on the facelift version of Duster and will launch is couple of months later than the Ford will launch EcoSport. This is a fast catching up strategy that global automakers are adopting to be ahead of its competitors. (Read Maruti Suzuki to launch refreshed Dzire couple of months later than Honda's Brio Amaze launch). It is believed that Renault will launch facelifted Duster by end of 2013 or early 2014 to be ahead of its competitor - Ford EcoSport.
