VW pleased with response fo Taigun Compact SUV - gives green light for production




A report suggests that Volkswagen is pretty pleased with the response of Taigun SUV which was recently displayed in Brazil. The report suggests that the company is so pleased with the response that it has given a green signal for its production.

The Taigun is based on the Up! platform and will start its production in 2014 only and not before with Brazil again becoming the first choice of car makers to launch their new vehicle. The Ford EcoSport which is yet to be launched in India has already been launched in Brazil .

The Taigun will be smaller than the EcoSport with dimensions of 3.86 m length, 1.73 m width and 1.57 m height, sporting a wheelbase of 2.47 m. The EcoSport in contrast measures 4.24 m long, 1.76 m wide and 1.62 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.52 m.

The Taigun is a four-seater powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine that produces 110 PS and 175 Nm. Weighing just 985 kg, it can speed all the way up to 186 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, while delivering a combined fuel consumption figure of 22.2 kpl.

The Taigun sits on 17-inch alloy wheels, with a 205/50 R17 tire rating. The cabin designed with a 280 litre bootspace which expands to 987 liters when the seats are folded down.
