October 2012 Indian market Car Sales / Model wise Sales

The October 2012 Indian market Passenger vehicle sales figures are out and have provided little relief to the Automobile Industry as the festive mood was not seen by Automobile industry in September 2012. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has already reduced the forecast of the Indian automobile industry twice for the ongoing FY '12-13. Even despite of the fact that the first 15 days of October was "Shradhs" and thereby less sales, the sales picked up during last 15 days of October 2012. Below appended is snapshot of same and attached is figures giving model wise figure of all car manufacturers present in India.

1. The Overall market grew by 31+% during October '12 when compared to Oct '11.
2. The Overall market grew by 7+% during October '12 when compared to Sep '12.
3. YTD (Jan-Oct '12) growth combinedly for India is 10+% when compared to same period last year.
4. Maruti, Hyundai, M&M, VW & Renault registered the highest monthly sales since April 2012 till date.
5. GM Beat sales decreased to lowest every 2904 units, may be in anticipation of Sail UVA launching today.
6. Punto and Linea sales continue to be down. Seems like its the end of Linea in market with just 37 units.
7. New facelifted Ford Figo could not put any impact of Indian consumers mind - sales further decreased. Ford EcoSport could now do the trick.
8. Honda City, Brio registered good numbers, 3800 each on av average - inspite of NO DIESEL. We wonder what would situation be once Honda launches diesel engine in India.
9. Hyundai models registered good numbers - i10 and i20 at all time high since April 2012. Verna continues to be king of Indian sedan segment market.
10. Mahindra continues to be king of Indian SUV segment with Quanto further adding by apprx. 2500 units
11. Maruti ----ahhhh, seems like it still remains king of Indian small segment market. Its smallest car (Alto) with launch just being 15 days, could manage to generate as many numbers as other manufacturers combinedly could not generate - isn't that some thing great !!! Swift & Dzire continues to be on track.
12. Nissan - seems like this was worst month for this Japanese manufacturer. Sunny & Micra registered lowest numbers, despite being festive offers in place. Nissan's Duster based SUV could save them now.
13. VW's Vento, despite being more costly was able to generate more numbers, 1894 than Skoda's Rapid - 1100 units.
14. Tata Motors Safari could not generate huge numbers - 1005 during the month. Nothing great for other models.
15. Toyota's Liva could register some growth however others remain subtle despite being an introduction of Limited edition variant for almost all of models.
16. Duster has changed the Renault India's fortune and registers highest ever sales of 5406 units

However, the growth remains to be in place during the November 2012 month as well. Hope the numbers would bring some smile to face and respite to forehead of Industry analysts and similar growth in November could make think think of revising growth forecasts upwards. Fingers crossed.
