Mercedes-Benz CLA aka A Class sedan spotted for first time - Clear Images

The front-wheel driven Mercedes-Benz CLA has recently been spotted on the highway for the first time.  From these two sets of spyshots, of two hotly anticipated cars, both in all their uncamouflaged glory, we can’t help but contend that Mercedes Benz is indeed building up the buzz around its car models and no, we aren’t complaining. Far from it, we now have a clear picture on how the production version of the GLA crossover and the CLA coupe will look like. Like the GLA crossover, the 2013 Mercedes Benz CLA coupe is based on Mercedes Benz’s MFA platform, that underpins all the entry level models of the German luxury brand.

The new CLA is a crucial model for Mercedes-Benz as this will be the first of the automaker’s new compact range headed to the USA, Europe & Asia. It is expected to arrive in showrooms by the middle of next year, most likely as a 2014 model.

he entry level turbo petrol engine will be 1.6 liter unit producing about 122 Bhp-200 Nm while the entry level diesel engine will be the 1.8 Liter, four pot engine good for 109 Bhp-250 Nm. Both the petrol and diesel engines are expected to be available with a range of tunes, with a 6 speed manual gearbox and a 7 speed DCT dual clutch automatic gearbox being offered as transmission choices.

Stay tuned for more information.
