Honda to launch HR-V - Compact SUV to challenge Duster, EcoSport and Trax

Honda Motors has planned to launch HR-V, which would be the compact version of Honda CR-V, thus a compact SUV which would go for sale in 2014. The car would challenge the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Chevrolet Trax and upcoming Volkswagen Compact SUV.

The upcoming mini SUV is expected to be about 4.2 metres long. The compact SUV will use the transverse engine-front wheel drive layout and might offer Honda’s real time AWD as an option on the top of the line variants. The 4 wheel drive system will be electronically controlled and will not bear any resemblance to CR-V’s hydraulically operated mechanism. Honda will also reduce the weight of the new car in order to deliver better fuel efficiency to its customers.

Powering the car will be a 2.0 litre i-VTEC motor that pumps out about 150 Bhp of power and 350 NM of torque. It can also be safely expected that the 1.8 litre Earth Dreams diesel will make it to the engine options list of the upcoming SUV.

We expect Honda to price it competitively and we await the launch of this car in 2014. Stay tuned for more information.
