Ford Motors to bring 8 cars to China by 2015 - First car to be cheapest Ford small car

Ford Motors is reportedly said to be developing a small car for China which would probably be Ford's cheapest car in world. However, Ford Motors says it will be sold under flagship company Ford Motors as the company does not have any plans to develop a separate brand unlike Nissan's Datsun.

Ford executives discussed their plans during a three-day tour that ended Wednesday at the groundbreaking of a new assembly plant in the eastern city of Hangzhou. The $760 million plant, which is Ford's first plant on the populous east coast of China, is expected to open in 2015.

Ford won't say what it plans to build there, but Ford China CEO Dave Shoch confirmed this week that a new small car similar to the Chevrolet Sail will be among the eight vehicles Ford is bringing to China by 2015.

Ford’s Asia Pacific chief Joe Hinrichs stated that the new car will be benefited from the company’s lessons, learnt during the development of Figo. But he also said that the Figo, being a Right hand drive platform, can neither share its platform with the new product nor will it be sold in China.

What is left unseen is will this car come to India as well as Ford does not has an entry level car in India unlike Maruti's Alto, Hyundai's Eon and Renault Nissan's upcoming small car. Stay tuned for more information.
