Tata Motors appoints new Managing Director - Mr. Karl Slym, Ex- Exec. VP, General Motors

Tata Motors said it appointed Karl Slym, the former head of General Motors in India, as its managing director effective Oct. 1. 

Slym, who was most recently an executive vice president at General Motors' China joint venture, will succeed P.M. Telang, who retired in June, Tata Motors said in a statement on Tuesday. 

Slym will lead all Tata Motors operations in India and overseas, although the company's popular luxury unit Jaguar Land Rover will be managed independently. 

Slym was appointed GM's India head in 2007.
