Maruti Suzuki has today during a meeting said, the company will fast track the roll of its much awaited small car. The car would be replacement of M800 which was the company's first model in India. Maruti Suzuki has also said the car would be priced near Rs 2 Lac and would then compete with Tata Nano and Hyundai Eon.

The company has clearly mentioned that it will not delay the launch of its new Alto as they are looking to regain their market share and volumes by the launch ever since the lock out at Maruti's Manesar plant the company has witnessed a sales loss of close to Rs 2,000 crore.

This reality has hit the company hard as two of its best selling models Swift and Dzire manufactured at Manesar unit is completely out of stock and continues to have a long waiting period. Currently, around 41 % of the total sales of the company are driven by Swift and Swift Dzire, which means of the company's average monthly sales of around 80,000 units, these two models contribute around 33,000 units.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is also working on small 800cc Diesel engine. The company is suffering huge loses due to the stop of work at its Manesar plant on 18th July 2012 during which a senior HR official died.
