Mahindra new SUV, Mini Xylo to be called Quanto - Images

Mahindra's upcoming new SUV - which was popularly called and known as Mini Xylo has finally be named as Quanto. The new SUV will be the first Indian sub 4 metre SUV. This would be made on same ladder frame chassis based on current Mahindra's Xylo and will carry same dashboard, seats and even suspension. However the third row will carry just 2 jump seats.

The Quanto would has shorter front bonnet and also the rear door has been trimmed off and will not be as bigger as in current Xylo, however would be similar to those in regular hatchbacks. The rear end of the car is almost flat similar to Marui WagonR.  The spare wheel will be on the back side of rear door similar to current Xylo and Tata Safari however this will fall outside the sub 4 meter range.

The new SUV, Quanto will be mated with a five speed transmission along with a trimmed down version of the current 2.2L mhawk engine powering Xylo. Quanto, would have a 3 cylinder 1.5L engine to get the excise benefits of the sub 4 meter car however it will still deliver apprx. 98 bhp which is much higher than all current 1.5L diesel engines in market. Nissan and Renault currently use 1.5L 85 bhp engine in their Sunny, Micra, Pulse and even Duster.

Above all this, the Quanto is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 4.5 Lac - Rs 6.5 Lac and is expected to bow anytime soon in September 2012. Stay tuned for more updates.
