Updated Chevrolet Cruze to be launched in Indian market on 27th June 2012

General Motors has unveiled the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Facelift at the 2012 Busan Motor Show. The American automaker has given the Cruze small upgrades on the outside, with the front grille and fog light section getting a re-design. The 2013 MY Chevrolet Cruze also features a new alloy wheel design. The company has also debuted their new MyLink infotainment system on the new Cruze, which is an in-car entertainment system. Using a 7-inch touchscreen, the Cruze can play almost all sorts of media from a USB pendrive.

The interiors receive a re-designed rear seats that help improve rear-headroom. The Station Wagon is powered by a 130bhp 1.7-litre VCDi engine; however, whether this makes it to our market is yet to be seen. Its highly likely that the Cruze facelift coming our way will be powered by a 2.0-litre VCDi diesel motor, with a power bump up to 163bhp.

The American car maker will introduce the new Cruze to Indian market on 27th June 2012. It may be noted that GM already sells the facelifted model in the international markets and it is about time for the manufacturer to bring the refreshed car to India. However, the surprise element here is that the car won’t be given any sort of cosmetic upgrade for the Indian market. But the good news is that the car will come with a new Z-Series diesel engine that produces more power than the outgoing engine ( 163 BHP vs 148 BHP). This is not all as the new engine should also have lesser turbo lag than the current motor. Talking about torque, the updated engine has 33 Nm of more pulling force than the older engine. All this means that the car is slated to become quicker and should hit a ton in 9.5 seconds with a top whack of about 220 km/h.

Stay tuned for more information on the Chevy Cruze launch.
