Tata Safari Storme has been caught testing once again, but testing at this point of time ? This comes as a shock to all of us, as the company senior officials informed the launch is scheduled to be in July 2012. It may be noted that the Storme is mechanically different from the current gen Safari and is based on the bigger sibling Aria. The new Safari has improved suspension from the previous version and has a monocoque body similar to as in Aria.
The price of the current Safari (Rs. 8.15 – Rs. 9.79 lakh) is expected to be brought down to make way for pricing the Safari Storme. Expect the Storme to be priced in the range of Rs. 9 lakh – Rs. 11 lakh.
The Storme is a bit more urban friendly, thanks to the 5.4 meter turning radius unlike the Safari which has 6 meter turning radius. The Storme is powered by a 2.2-litre DiCOR motor that puts out 140 Bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. This engine (similar to the one in the Aria) has been tweaked and the gear ratios have been altered in order to provide better acceleration than the present model.
With regard to fuel efficiency, expect the Storme to be a bit more fuel efficient than the Safari which has an ARAI-certified mileage of 13.93 Kmpl.
Stay tuned for more information.
