Hyosung split up with Garware Motors, teams up with Pune based DSK Motowheels. GT250R launch on 13th June

Hyosung have split up with their Indian partner Garware and have now partnered with real estate developers, the DSK Group. The latter are well known in construction and real estate circles in Maharashtra but are also better known as one of the biggest Toyota dealers in India. DSK Motowheels , the two-wheeler automotive division of DSK will now be the exclusive distributor for Hyosung in India and the new venture will be called DSK Hyosung.

The tie up would enable DSK Motowheels to take over the manufacturing facility of Garware Motors in Wai. This would also mean that all the 18 dealerships of Garware Motors would be transferred to DSK Motowheels. They also have plans of setting up a full-fledged 100 acre plant near Pune which could see an investment of Rs. 300 crore. Perhaps, S&T Motors is looking forward to localization in order to reduce the costs, thus making the bikes affordable in India. The company feels the rising incomes and aspirational lifestyles of people will generate greater demand for Superbikes in the country

DSK Motowheels will now be assembling engines for Hyosung in India at their Wai plant (formerly owned by Garware). The first motorcycle to be launched under this new alliance will be the Hyosung GT250R on June 13. Since the engines will be assembled here, we expect Hyosung to come up with a very competitive pricing for this motorcycle.
