Hero Ignitor prices leaked - to go on sale from next month

Priced at Rs. 59,638 (Ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the base model, Hero's premium 125cc machine the Ignitor will be on sale from next month onwards.

Pricing for Hero Motocorp's choice of weapon in the 125cc segment, the Ignitor is out in the open and surprisingly it is priced a tad over its brother from another mother, the Honda CBF Stunner. Priced at Rs. 60,740 (Ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the top-end Self/Disc brake variant, the Ignitor is approximately Rs. 800 costlier than the Honda CBF Stunner, which has been the premium 125cc offering from the Japanese giant. Price for the base variant which comes minus the disc brake upfront is Rs. 58,638 (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Indian major had shown the Ignitor early this year at the 2012 Auto Expo fair in New Delhi, and the official launch is expected to be conducted shortly.

Despite the break-up, Hero still has a few Honda-based products in its kitty and the new Hero Ignitor is one of them. Fundamentally the same as the Honda CBF Stunner, the Ignitor gets aesthetic revamp from Hero. Employing identical underpinnings as found on the CBF Stunner and powered by the same trusty Honda 124.77cc ATFT single cylinder air-cooled engine making 11PS of power and 11Nm of torque, the only major factor that sets the Ignitor apart are the cosmetic alterations primarily on the front fairing as well as finer exterior detailing on the new Hero motorcycle. The front fairing gets pseudo air-scoops and the moniker Ignitor emblazoned on the flanks of the front quarter fairing. Edgier and funkier than the one seen on the CBF Stunner the front-end of the Ignitor is complimented by body-coloured rear view mirrors.

The two striking features on the Ignitor are inclusion of a digital speedometer and a kick-starter while the CBF Stunner employs a fully analogue instrument console and does away with the kick-start option. On the inside, while the power numbers are similar between the two motorcycles, the Ignitor makes 11Nm of torque lowdown the range at 5,000rpm, which is 1,500rpm lower than the CBF Stunner's 11Nm of torque peaking at 6,500rpm. With the torque being made available lower down the rev-range, the Ignitor should have excellent in-town rideability as well as impressive in-gear acceleration.

The power from the engine is transmitted via a 5-speed gearbox with a one-down/four-up shift pattern on the Ignitor. Handling the suspension duties are telescopic forks upfront and twin adjustable shock absorbers on the rear, while stopping power comes from a 240mm disc brake upfront and a 130mm drum brake working on the rear. The 17-inch wheels are shod with tubeless tyres.

2013 Hyundai Accent details, features, prices and photos revealed

Hyundai has revealed the details, features and images of the new Hyundai 2013 Accent. In the new model, What Hyundai brings in is host of new standard features. Base price of the car is now $ 14,545 which marks a $2000 increase compared to the outgoing model.

Considering the number of new standard features offered with the base model one can safely say Hyundai has come up with a winner. Included in the starting lineup is a six speaker stereo music system has a range of input jacks. There's air conditioning, keyless entry, power side mirrors (body colored), sunglass holder, and door handles (body colored).

Standard features included on the midrange SE trim are signal indicators on side mirrors. For the top SE trim a sunroof is optional. The Accent trim will be available in 6-speed transmissions, manual or automatic. Models will be equipped with an Incline-Four 1.6 liter engine delivering 138hp and producing 123 pound-ft torque. Several systems in the Accent contribute to optimal fuel efficiency. Despite the additional content, safety features and technology packed into the 2013 Accent, Hyundai has avoided the typical associated penalty of increased weight. A low curb weight corresponds to an improvement not only in fuel economy but all other dynamic areas. In fact, Accent offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class by far, providing drivers with both low fuel consumption and responsive performance. Highlights that contribute to a low curb weight include the 1.6-liter Gamma GDI engine with aluminum block, monotube shock absorbers, integrated parking brake and a super flat torque converter.

UP TO 40 MPG HIGHWAY

Accent's EPA fuel economy rating is 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway, with the six-speed automatic transmission or manual transmission.

SAFETY

Hyundai doesn't believe consumers should have to pay a premium for safety, so a long list of safety features is included as standard equipment on all 2013 Accent models. A total of six airbags protect occupants in the event of a collision, including two front impact airbags, two front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear passengers. Accent’s standard front-seat active head restraints help prevent whiplash by automatically reducing the space between a front occupant’s head and the head restraint during certain rear collisions and are highly recommended by safety organizations such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Active front head restraints are not available on Fiesta or Mazda2.

Collision Load Dispersion

The Accent's underlying structure is engineered to protect occupants using a Collision Load Dispersion mechanism and the rear doors have internal beams. The vehicle's structure distributes the force of an impact in three ways to minimize floor deformation and maintain the integrity of the cabin.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control work together to help deliver confident handling in all conditions. Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) integrates control of the ESC and motor-driven power steering (MDPS) to provide handling assistance in slippery conditions or in sudden cornering scenarios. The system can deliver up to eight Newton-meters of counter-steering effort when required to assist the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle.

Braking System

A key safety element for any vehicle is its braking system. An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) featuring Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is also included. EBD examines the effect of vehicle load on weight distribution and apportions the braking force between front and rear axles to maximize stopping ability. In the event of a panic stop, BA ensures that maximum braking force is applied.

SMALL ON THE OUTSIDE, BIG ON THE INSIDE

All Accents ride on a 101.2 inch wheelbase, 2.8-inches longer than the previous generation. The Accent 4-door's overall length has increased by 3.5 inches to 172 inches. Total length of the new five-door version is 162 inches. As a result, Accent enjoys superior interior volume and passenger space. While the car‚Äôs exterior dimensions are consistent with those of traditional subcompacts, Accent is classified by the EPA as a compact sedan thanks to its interior volume. Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta are classified as subcompact cars. In addition the Accent five-door has best-in-class cargo volume and more cargo capacity than the Nissan Juke. The Accent has best-in-class front and rear shoulder room, and the five-door also has more cargo volume than many of its compact five-door competitors.

Convenient storage spaces are included throughout the cabin, including bottle holders in the front doors and a storage tray at the base of the center console. A sliding armrest storage console is available, which is a segment first. Split and fold 60/40 rear seats are standard for increased cargo flexibility when transporting longer items. Not only does Accent have multiple storage areas, but it delivers more useable storage capacity while keeping an attractive appearance. WardsAuto took notice of Accent's thoughtful interior design, placing it on their Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list in April 2012.

CONFIDENT DRIVING DYNAMICS

The first step toward confident driving dynamics is a rigid structure. To this end, the 2013 Accent employs high-tensile strength steel to deliver a strong, light and stiff body. Increased stiffness allowed Hyundai engineers more flexibility in terms of suspension tuning. The end result is a better balance between handling precision and ride comfort. Accent employs a MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and twin-tube gas shock absorbers. The rear suspension is a torsion axle setup with coil springs and monotube shock absorbers.

All Accents have column-mounted, motor-driven electric power steering that adjusts instantly to changing driving conditions while improving fuel economy over a conventional steering system. Accent's turning diameter of 34.1 feet is better than Versa, Fiesta and Fit. The SE five-door model has a unique steering calibration for a sportier feel.

FLUIDIC SCULPTURE DESIGN

The 2013 Accent sports the company's increasingly popular "Fluidic Sculpture" design. The vehicle's exterior lines are intended to be futuristic, dynamic, and sleek. In a segment typically associated with staid designs, Accent stands out from the crowd. While the styling provides an attractive form, it's also functional, featuring a slippery 0.30 coefficient of drag for Accent sedan and 0.31 for Accent five-door. Hyundai's signature hexagonal front grille and detailed swept-back headlights give Accent a compact athletic face. Five-door SE models include a sporty roof-mounted spoiler and vertical taillights. For an assertive stance, 16-inch alloy wheels are available on GLS and standard on SE.

COLOR PALETTE

The 2013 Accent GLS is available with gray or beige two-tone interior. The five-door GS and SE trims are available with a gray interior or a monotone black interior. All Accents have cloth-like pillar trim made of fibrous tissue and volcanic rock for a premium look and feel.

Maruti 800 coming this Diwali - detailed images inside

Maruti Suzuki yet to be launched 800 will be coming any time before Diwali. Infact, Diwali is the time in India where in car makers earn huge Sales revenue, considered to be the auspicious occasion for buying new things and even cars too. Therefore, there's gonna by a huge number of launches this year we see. Maruti Suzuki revived 800 will be one of them.

The car maker has not yet announced much details of the car, but have said that the older version will not go on for sale any more, the production of which have already stopped in India. The newer version was seen testing around and spy images are here. The car from the front looks like Alto and the rear looks like an A-Star.

This new car, to be called the Alto 800 (codename: YE3), is based on the Alto, but with significant modifications done to make it cheaper. Not to be confused with the Alto sold in Japan, the new Alto 800 is based on the current generation Alto (YG4) but with a new body and interior. The Alto 800 is likely to share a lot of running gear with the current car. It will also have a basic but cost-effective MacPherson strut setup in front and a coil spring torsion beam axle at the rear.

The new Alto 800 will hit showrooms later this year. Expect Maruti to price the new Alto 800 slightly above Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi.

Mahindra & Mahindra launches CNG variant of Maxximo

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to intensify competition in the mini truck segment to homegrown rival Tata Motors, which is currently leading the market with its Ace model.

"Mahindra is committed towards sustainable mobility and the environment. The launch of Maxximo CNG is one more step in that direction," Mahindra & Mahindra Senior Vice President Marketing (Automotive Sector) Vivek Nayer told reporters here.

The company, which launched a CNG variant of its mini truck 'Maxximo' - priced at Rs 3.99 lakh (Ex showroom Delhi), said it is looking to expand customer base through its "superior product offering".

"In the two years since we entered the mini truck segment with Maxximo, we have been able to build a good share in the market, which is currently dominated by Ace. We are confident that with a superior product offering, more customers will choose our product," Mahindra & Mahindra Senior Vice President Marketing (Automotive Sector) Vivek Nayer told reporters here.

"Our share was 22 per cent in the load segment while that of Ace was 68 per cent. In the load segment, Maxximo had 29 per cent share while that of Ace was over 60 per cent," Nayer added.

Bentley launches its fastest production model ever, Continental GT Speed

The rumors were true: Bentley will be debuting the car you see here, the 2013 Continental GT Speed, at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. And while it doesn't look all that different (if at all) from a standard Conti GT, the changes under the hood are what sets this big coupe apart from its kin. Take notice: With a top speed of 205 miles per hour, this is the fastest production car that Bentley has ever produced.

Having enjoyed a sales boom since the start of the year, Bentley today launches its fastest ever road-going car. But if you want to own one you’ll need deep pockets – it’s priced at £151,500. The two-door ‘grand tourer’, which can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in four seconds, is designed to get four people and their luggage down to the South of France in comfort and speed.

To achieve such performance it has a vast six-litre turbo-charged engine that produces the same power as six Ford Fiestas. Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012: Green flag waved off

The 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed starts today after yesterday's Moving Motor Show. The theme of the 2012 Festival is 'Young Guns – Born to Win', which celebrates young drivers, riders, designers and engineers who have made their mark on motorsport. Given this it seems fitting that double F1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel, should be making his Goodwood debut in 2012. Lotus is honoured in the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed's central feature, with an unmissable 28-metre installation in fronts of Goodwood House.

More than 300 vehicles and 100 drivers will be in action each day. Expect burnouts, donuts and wheelies from motorsport stars past and present outside Lord March’s elegant house. Every driver is there to entertain the crowds, and it’s the closest most spectators will ever get to their racing heroes, all in the setting of a glorious, albeit loud, garden party.

BMW 7 Series facelift - Video

Good News - Petrol price cut by Rs 2.46/litre in Delhi, Rs 3.10 in Mumbai and Rs 3.07 in Chennai - effective midnight

Petrol price in Delhi will cost Rs 67.78 per litre with effect from midnight tonight as compared to Rs 70.24 a litre rate now, state-owned oil companies announced today.

In Mumbai, petrol price has been cut by Rs 3.10 to Rs 73.35 per litre, while it will cost Rs 72.74 a litre in Kolkata from tomorrow compared to Rs 75.81 per litre currently. Chennai saw a Rs 3.07 per litre cut in price to Rs 72.74 a litre.

Even after today's reduction, there exists a scope for cutting rates by a further Re 1 per litre as current revision was done at average international oil rate in the first fortnight of June. Global oil prices have fallen by 8 per cent since then.

The reduction in rates follows a Rs 2.02 a litre cut in prices from June 3. The two price cuts have wiped out more than half of the massive Rs 7.54 per litre increase in rates, the biggest in the history, effected last month.

Every body in the market was speculating that the top end variant will not sell in the market as they will have competition from the market leaders like Toyota Innova and XUV 5OO which sell very well in this range, 12L ex-showroom and have a three row seating capacity with 2.2L / 2.5L engine option and a much higher power output.

If the above news comes out to be true, which as per sources is confirmed, the SUV is surely going to be worth watching the launch. We can thus see the huge price differential between the lower and the top end variant of 5 Lac INR, the lowest variant being speculated at INR 7 Lac and top end at INR 12 Lac.

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS launched in New Delhi at price of Rs 85,000

One of the most awaited bike of the year, the Bajaj Pulsar is finally launched the by the company at the National Capital. Bajaj unveiled the bike few months back and then launched the same only at Pune. Bajaj is relying on phased launch for the 200NS and the company said the bike will be made available across the country within two months.

The bike launched, Pulsar 200NS in Delhi is priced at Rs. 85,000 (ex-showroom). The on-road price of the bike will come to Rs 94,300. For those still unfamiliar with everything that’s new and exciting on the 200NS, it is powered by a liquid-cooled single cylinder 4-valve SOHC 199.5cc engine that boasts of the world's first triple-sparkplug technology. This motor pumps out a meaty 23.52PS of power @ 9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque @ 8000rpm.

Commenting on the launch in Pune, Mr. Sanjay Saraswat, Vice-President-Marketing, Bajaj Auto said “These sporty iconic motorcycles have been a testimony to the company’s engineering prowess. The Pulsar 200 NS showcases next leap in technology and design and will set the standard for others to follow. We are launching the first Pulsar 200 NS in Maharashtra as we feel that the state has played a major role in Pulsar completing the ‘Decade of Dominance’ with 10 years of leadership in the Indian performance motorcycle market. It will then be progressively launched in the rest of the country."

The company recently launched the KTM Duke 200 after which, the company commented that they will line all their future launches with the KTM being in the premium category and Pulsar being offered to the masses.

Ford starts promoting EcoSport - will it be launched before Diwali ?

Ford has started promoting its upcoming and most awaited EcoSport.  The sources close to the company say that the car will have a 1.0L Petrol engine which is a new refined engine, first to be installed in EcoSport. This engine, as per sources will be equivalent to Ford's 1.6L petrol engine. The Diesel engine will be a 1.5L engine which is currently fitted in Fiesta.

Ford's EcoSport is one vehicle which created jams in Auto Expo 2012. The stall was second most crowded after Mercedes Benz. Dacia Duster launched in UK at price of Rs 7.98 Lakh

The Renault Duster is just a week away from stamping its authority in the compact SUV segment in India. However Renault UK has launched the compact crossover in the UK before that, today. Badged as a Dacia, the pre-order starts today with first deliveries in January 2013.

In Britain, the Dacia-badged Duster will be available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine delivering 104hp, linked to a five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel duties will be handed to the 1.5-liter dCi turbo diesel rated at 108hp paired to a six-speed manual.

The car would be exported to UK from Chennai, India and the company plans to start export of Duster in January 2013.  The featured launched in UK include:

Chinese car maker Chery plans to enter India - to export cars from Malaysia till plant gets ready

Chinese car makers have already India to their targets, may be they feel the current cars are costlier in India and they can launch product at better price. The market at present also looks interesting in India as there are enough buyers available for a carmaker to viably set up manufacturing facility in India.

As per the recent reports, the china based car maker Chery has already initiated talks with the Indian government regarding the set up of new plant, though the location has still not been disclosed neither by the car maker nor by any of respective state official.

The car maker says the approvals are taking time but we do not want to waste out time and till we get approvals, we will start exporting the product, we assume it to be a small car Chery QQ3. We cannot predict the pricing as this being the Chinese car maker can unveil the product at some crazy prices, who knows this car might even be placed at prices levels as low as a Tata Nano, no guesses for this one.

However, sources also tell that Chery QQ3 was being caught testing in New Delhi a couple of days before. However, no official photographs confirm the same. There is no second thought that car makers are planning new products for Indian market and that too at lower rates which could heat up the competition again.
