Sources at Tata Motors India have confirmed that the new model of Tata Safari Storme which was displayed at Auto Expo will reach the dealers in India in October 2012. However the sources at Tata Motors also say that the current model of Safari will remain in production and will be sold through the same dealership.
The new Safari was showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo sporting the current model’s powertrain but with a restyled body and improved interior. The new Safari is bodied on the Aria’s X2 platform and is not a monocoque like the Mahindra XUV5OO.
Tata Motors has started getting vocal about the new Safari. It has begun presenting spin-offs on its platform such as the Expedition variant showcased at the Expo and variants for special forces at the DEFEXPO held earlier this year. The company is also keeping its fans on Facebook guessing by featuring photographs of the car off-roading and jumping off crests.
Tata Safari Storme to be launched on 18th October 2012
The car maker was earlier scheduled to launch the car in July 2012 however with increased competition from the latest launches at competitive prices like Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV 5OO, the car maker took advise / suggestion from various its fans and viewers at Auto Expo and is now busy working on those changes. There are also speculations about the fact that the car which will be launched in October 2012 will have many changes compared to the car which was showcased at Auto Expo 2012. The exact quantum of changes will be seen once the car launches in October 2012.
Tata is said to price position the Storme slightly above the older Safari. The company has adopted the similar strategy in the past, cars such as the Vista and Manza have occupied positions higher than their predecessors. In the case of the Storme, that trend is expected to continue.
The SUV, which is based on the Aria’s X2 platform, comes with a host of improvements like a smaller turning radius due to a wider steering rack, disc brakes on all four wheels, new suspension and projector headlamps to name just a few.
