Maruti is expected to launch the Splash for the Japanese market in couple of next weeks. The images below are from the Splash's Japanese website and this confirms the launch of the car in Japan. However, there has been lots of Information going across the web regarding the new facelifted Ritz in India however, as per our knowledge the car is expected to be launched in June 2012.
However, the Splash on outside though, things look very similar to what we saw in the spyshots of the car, with a new grille and front bumper design giving the Ritz an aggressive stance up front. Apart from this major change, the rear bumper also sees a change with sporty slats and a new bumper. Another visible change is the tailgate of the new car now coming with a flat design instead of the curved profile in the current Ritz. This design element seems to have been added after listening to customer feedback as the previous design made the Ritz’s rear look as though it was rear ended.
Under the hood, the 2012 facelifted Ritz is expected to get the 1.2 Liter K-Series engine with variable valve timing for both the intake and exhaust valves, pushing up the power output and responsiveness of the engine. This engine is now available on the new Swift too. The diesel engine is expected to remain the same 1.3 Liter Fiat Multijet unit with changes made for better fuel economy. These engines could be available with the 5 speed manual gearbox as standard, as is the case now. It remains to be seen whether Maruti will offer an automatic transmission variant.
Stay tuned for more information on Indian version of Ritz.
