Mahindra have launched the Thar CRDe with the option of a company fitted AC and heater. The company has also addressed the security concerns of most of its buyers by introducing an engine immobilizer on the vehicle. The hardcore mud-plugger hasn't received a hard-top, as anticipated though and the vehicle will continue to be sold with a removable rag top. The A/C option has been introduced only in the CRde version for now, with the DI variant continuing to be sold without the feature. M&M have priced the new Thar at Rs 686800 ex-showroom Delhi.
The Thar CRDe features a 105 Bhp-247 Nm, 2.5 liter common rail turbo diesel engine. This engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission, with the 4X4 system activated through the Borg Warner manual transfer case. The fit and finish on the Thar has been a big cause of concern for both current owners and prospective owners, considering that the CRDe engined version costs more than many B+ hatchbacks. This is something that prospective owners will hope Mahindra will consider soon.
