NextPune fire brigade gets 6 fire fighting Royal Enfield Electra 350cc motorcycles

The fire brigade is now better equipped to tackle fires erupting in slums, with the introduction of six rapid response motorbikes yesterday, which can be used to negotiate narrow lanes and streets leading into areas like Kasewadi, Janata Vasahat, Juna Bazaar and Patil Estate.

This fire fighting Royal Enfield is powered by a 346cc unit construction four stroke engine outputting a peak power of 20 Bhp and a peak torque of 28 Nm. This motorcycle features slots for 4 custom built tanks that are mounted at the rear. Currently though, two 10 liter tanks are mounted onto the motorcycle with option of doubling the capacity if and when the need arises. These tanks hold water as well as compressed air foam in a 9:1 ratio, to be dispensed in case of a fire mishap. This apart, the motorcycle also features a first aid box and gel blankets as additional equipment to deliver care to fire burn victims.
Since motorcycles can move through city traffic much faster than conventional fire trucks, it will now become possible to reach blazes much quicker than ever before. So, getting to small blazes will now be much quicker and efficient that ever before. Also, these fire fighting Royal Enfield motorcycles will be introduced in more Indian cities over the coming months.
