Maruti Suzuki witnesses 7 percent increase in Sales y-o-y in February 2012




Maruti Suzuki, still known as the India's Leader in Passenger Car Sales has reported that the sales for the month of February 2012 has increased 7 percent on an year on year basis.

The Car maker witnessed Domestic Sales of 107, 653 units in Feb. 2012 as compared to 101, 543 units in Feb. 2011, thereby registering a growth of 6% and the rest of growth comes from the Export market. Below are the highlights from Maruti Suzuki India's Sales


  • The company also says the Sales in Feb. 2012 were second highest in Maruti's history just behind the Highest sales registered in March 2011 at 110,424 units.
  • Sales of Mini Cars of Maruti including M800, A-Star, Alto & Wagon-R decreased by 8.24% compared on an y-o-y basis.
  • Sales of Mid size sedan, SX4 decreased by 42% on an y-o-y basis
  • Sales of Premium Luxury Sedan decreased by 44% on an y-o-y basis
  • Sales of Compact sedan including Swift and Ritz increased 31% on an y-o-y basis
  • Sales of Swift Dzire alone increased by 58% on an y-o-y basis.
The car maker is having huge support from the new Swift & new Dzire launched. The car maker now needs to work upon the strategy for Selling small cars & SX4. MSIL has already announced to launch new model of small car which will be replacing M800 and also for SX4, the company already has Diesel and CNG variants in place, hence the only scope left for it is a drop in Price or additional unique features that could help in increasing the sales of these cars.
