The BM Munjal-led Hero Group firm Hero MotoCorp unveiled three new models - 100 CC bike Passion XPro, 125 CC Bike Ignitor and 110 CC scooter named Maestro. The three new models are set to hit Indian market over the next few months. Hero Moto Corp. had shown a new scooter in London alongside the Impulse when the biker maker transformed from Hero Honda to Hero Moto Corp

The company which has already launched the first Hero branded bike in the market last year unveiled two new bikes -- 100 CC bike Passion XPro and a 125 CC Bike Ignitor along with a 110 CC scooter named Maestro.

What is interesting is that these ‘new’ Hero bikes are largely based on Honda products. As expected, Maestro’s engine comes from the popular Honda Activa, the new Passion borrows the Twister engine while the Ignitor is almost a re-badged Stunner. This Honda Stunner based product sports a digital-analog combo meter console. Luckily, the bike has tubeless tyres and also offers an optional front disc brake.

Speaking at the event, managing director and CEO Pawan Munjal said, “The new models reflect Hero MotoCorp’s intent and vision for the future and are part of a clear strategy to further consolidate our leadership position. We have a positive outlook towards the new year as we work towards our plan in the domestic and overseas markets.” Hero MotoCorp’s sales in December 2011 were eight percent more in than in December 2010.

Hero Group and Honda had signed a new licensing agreement in March, under which the Indian firm will pay its Japanese counterpart 45 billion yen (about Rs 2,450 crore) till 2014.
