Volvo signs pact with Concor (Container Corporation of India Limited)

Volvo India Limited has entered into an agreement with CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited) for their export import logistics and has taken over a space of 1.5 lakh square feet of area at Whitefield ICD (Inland Container Depot), Bangalore.

Under this agreement, Volvo India will make this place as a hub for Export import logistics and all further transactions will take place from this place in Bangalore. The accumulation and distribution of their cargo will take place from this place to their factories at Peenya and Hoskote in Bangalore and to their new factory at Pithampur in Indore.

The imports meant for Volvo is railed out from Chennai Harbour and unloaded at ICD/WFD, Bangalore, Raveen Kumar Reddy, chief general manager, CONCOR told TOI here on Tuesday.

The Customer Clearance will be filed from ICD, Bangalore and then will be sent to various warehouses as per the requirements of various plants at different places across India.

M/s Volvo India is planning to import the completely knock down kits of the bus equipment for assembling at the ICD. It is a well known fact that all buses for inter-district and JNNURM are purchased from Volvo India only, he said. They are now planning to take extra space for closed and open bonding for this purpose.

This would also generate jobs for the people of Karnataka.
