Nissan Ashok Leyland to foray into passenger transport segment





Nissan Motors, Japan and Hinduja’s group lead Ashok Leyland promoted Joint Venture, Nissan Ashok Leyland has confirmed to mark its entry into the passenger transport segment for the Indian market very soon.

The Joint Venture started to manufacture cargo transportation for the Indian market will now also launch goods light commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles. The vehicles will be powered with Diesel and CNG.

The light commercial vehicle will have a capacity of 12.5 GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) and the passenger vehicle will have a seating capacity of 8 to 24 seating capacity. The company will start rolling out the vehicles in 2012-13 and subsequently one vehicle will be launched every year for the next 5 years.
