Hyundai Motors to launch Commercial Vehicles including Premium trucks and Buses in India

South Korean auto major and second largest by market share in India, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) plans to launch Commercial vehicles in the Indian market. As per the company officials, this will give strengthen the company's position in India as well as will be a guiding force in achieving the global plan for its commercial vehicles division.

Hyundai Motor Company Deputy General Manager (Commercial vehicle Marketing team) J D Lee on the sidelines of the Tokyo Motor Show said  "There are lots of possibilities to launch commercial vehicles in India...we are currently studying the Indian market...So, we are planning,"

When Asked to Mr. Lee by when the company could launch the commercial vehicles in India, he said: "We hope to launch it very soon."

As a Initial part of the strategy, the company is planning to launch premium segment trucks in the market and is also looking to introduce buses in India.

"Premium model truck is attractive (now) for the Indian market but we think bus is also profitable," Lee said, adding the company is deciding which model will be launched.

The company, which today showcased a new luxury bus 'Universe' here, said it has gradually expanded its presence in the commercial vehicle segment over the last few years, starting with Japan and South Africa.
