Honda India Halts Production Of Brio Small Car On Parts Supply Shortage

Honda Siel Cars India has reported on Wednesday that it has stopped the production of its recently launched hatchback, Brio in wake of supply shortage from Thailand which is affected by floods in the country.

The global company, Honda Motors is the worst affected company among all those affected by the recent floods in Thailand along with the Earthquake in Japan on 11th March 2011.

Honda Siel, which is 99.9% owned by Honda and 0.1% by India's Siel Ltd., makes the Brio and Jazz hatchbacks as well as the mid-sized City and Accord sedans at its factory at Greater Noida in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. It also sells the CR-V sport-utility vehicle by importing them.

"The situation is much worse than November," Sen said. "Our production this month will be much lower than last month."

Honda Siel sold 1,982 cars in the month of November 2011.
