Caterpillar to invest $210 mn in India for new Perkins engine plant and expanding existing capacity

Seeing at the robust development in the Indian market for road construction and infrastructure development, Caterpillar India is considering India as one of the major markets in the world.

The construction equipment giant plans to invest $210 mn in the Indian market of which $150 mn will be used for construction of its Perkins 4000 series engine plant which is the first engine plant outside UK. Apart from this, other $62 mn will be utilized in expansion of its current manufacturing facility in Chennai.

Currently, Caterpillar has three manufacturing facilities in India, apart from a logistics service base and development center in India.
