Oil companies cut jet fuel price by Rs 622 per kl

Are the State owned Oil Companies cutting the price of ATF, commonly called as Jet fuel so as to give a relief to the already burdened Airline sector and increasing the price of Petrol for two and four wheelers so as to get a no profit no loss situation ?

In a recent report it has been revealed that the State owned Oil Companies including IOC and other fuel retailers, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum had on December 16 reduced ATF price by 1.3 per cent to Rs 63,739.10 per kl on account of softening in the commodity's international rates, if that is the case then why is there a proposal given by the same State owned Oil Companies to increase the price of petrol for the common masses.

Jet fuel in Mumbai will cost Rs 64,054 per kl from tomorrow as against current rate of Rs 64730.23 per kl, a decrease of over Rs 676 per kl. The reductions this month comes on back of a steep 3.7 per cent hike in rates effected from December 1. Prior to that, ATF rates had been increased by Rs 1,195 per kl from November 16 and by 3.8 per cent or Rs 2,845 per kl from November 1.

The official said the reduction was possible because fall in international jet fuel prices has offset weakening of the rupee against the US dollar.

Iran Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi says Global oil price will surge to over $200

Iran Oil Minister Mr. Rostam Qasemi says if Iran's petroleum sector is hit with new Western sanctions, the whole world will have to pay a hefty price for it as the price of the petrol could rise steeply. He says it is difficult to predict the accurate rise but the price could rise to atleast $200 per barrel.

Qasemi comments comes as the European Union was considering a possible EU embargo on Iranian oil imports. EU foreign ministers are to meet on the issue in a month's time.US President Barack Obama is also expected to soon sign into law additional restrictions on Iran's central bank, which acts as the main conduit for Iranian oil sales.

Twenty percent of the world's oil moves through the Strait of Hormuz, at the entrance of the Gulf, making it the "most important chokepoint" globally, according to information released Friday by the US Energy Information Administration.Iran is subject to four rounds of UN sanctions over its nuclear programme, which many Western countries allege is being used to develop atomic weapons. Tehran denies the allegation.

Mangusta Legacy Concept aims to honor the memory of famous Italian sports car

Every so often we come upon a concept car that, despite not offering any sort of real world specifications or possibility of coming to fruition, offers an unprecedented display of what makes a concept car design both refined, yet appropriately edgy.

The design of the original Mangusta was penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who at the time was working at Turin-based coachbuilder Ghia.

The car had a distinctive silhouette with a height of just 1,100 mm, and featured a very large windscreen, gullwing doors, and an essential interior.

Fascinated by this icon, Maxime decided to create a modern reinterpretation of the car, adapting its character to the modern technologies and design trends.

The result is the Mangusta Legacy Concept, an extreme, low sportscar which maintains the main design elements and character of the original.

CNG Price to increase by Rs 1.75 per Kg in Delhi from today Midnight

Fuel hike has been one of the most common news across the Oil section these days. Wonder why is it so much, One day it's petrol price hike, the next day comes a diesel hike and the very next day a CNG price hike. The uncertain government policy has made it difficult for the common masses to take a decision on vehicle purchase and at the same time the investments are being delayed by the auto makers in order to get a clarity on fuel hike decision.

As per the latest news article, the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) has been hiked by Rs 1.75 per kg in the national capital with effect from midnight tonight, mainly on account of rupee depreciation against the US dollar. The new consumer price in Delhi will be Rs 33.75 per kg, while it will be Rs 37.90 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. This is the fifth increase in CNG rates this year.

IGL had last raised CNG prices in Delhi by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 32 per kg from October 1. IGL Managing Director M Ravindran said: "We have been forced to increase the retail price of CNG due to a major increase in the input cost of entire pool of natural gas being sourced by us as a result of recent appreciation of the dollar vis-a-vis the rupee and the increased dependence on imported LNG."

The hike was necessitated because IGL bought expensive imported LNG to make up for the stoppage of supplies from Reliance Industries' eastern offshore KG-D6 gas field because of a fall in output.

Mitsubishi Plug-in-hybrid headed for launch in 2013

Mitsubishi is busy working away on its next-generation Outlander SUV, inspired by the recent PX-MiEV and PX-MiEV II concepts.
While the MiEV concepts utilise a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid power train, the new Outlander is expected to stick with conventional petrol and diesel hearts. Initially, at least.
A hybrid version of the new SUV has been expected since the first PX-MiEV was revealed in 2009, and a new report in Japan's Nikkei business paper this week suggests it could arrive as soon as 2013.

Details of the new ultra-green SUV and sources for the information were not revealed, although the report claims that the new hybrid will get a global debut in the year following its launch.
In concept form, the PX-MiEV II is powered by a 70kW 2.0 litre petrol engine, paired with two electric motors to produce a combined 120kW. Mitsubishi's new twin-motor four-wheel-drive system and Super All-Wheel Control is also featured.
The regular petrol and diesel versions of the new Outlander, its styling inspired by the PX-MiEV concepts, is expected to make its production debut in the coming year.

2013 BMW R1250GS Adventure bike spotted testing - Spy Images

The BMW R1200GS has been the bike of choice of many travellers. The bike has proved its capabilities on numerous occasions. Hollywood star Ewen McGregor and his friend and actor Charlie Boorman took the bike on a trip around the world. A few years later, the chaps rode their bikes from Scotland to Cape Town. The BMW R1200GS never got bogged down through out their journey except for in Siberia where the team had to be assisted by a truck to get to Magadan on the eastern send of Russia.

BMW is now updating its popular endurance bike with a much larger engine and other improvements. The 2013 BMW R1250GS was spotted doing its testing rounds recently. For the first time Asphalt and Rubber has managed to get hold of the clearest images of the upcoming endurance bike from BMW. BMW seems to have gone with their usual horizontally opposed twin-cylinder air-cooled configuration. The R1200GS has been using BMW’s air-cooled engine for quite a while now and could be upgraded into a liquid cooled motor on the new model.

BMW has already started selling their bikes in India. The bikes can be ordered via private dealerships who import the bikes from Germany. BMW Motorad plans to open factory showrooms in the country in coming years once there is substantial demand for their bikes. We expect the new bike to be launched sometime in 2012 and will be available in India once it goes on sale globally.

Petrol prices may go up by Rs 2.25 from January 2 2012 midnight

State owned Oil Companies are ready to roar again, this time with a tag of Rs 2.25 per liter from Monday, 02nd January 2011 midnnight. The officials of these companies says the proposals are ready and they are yet again set to fire unless the government asks them to wait for the assembly elections.

Companies' executives say that compared to the landed price of imported petrol, domestic rates need to be raised by Rs 1.90 per litre, excluding local taxes. "If the entire loss is passed on to the consumer, with 20% state duties, the fuel will be costlier by 2.28 a litre in the Capital," one executive said. State levies vary from state to state.

The government allowed state oil firms to align petrol price with international rates on June last year, but companies always informally consulted it before taking any pricing decisions.

The three major oil companies raised domestic retail prices of petrol by Rs 1.80 a litre on Nov 4 in Delhi. They cut the price by Rs 2.22 per litre and Rs 0.78 a litre in the following two fortnights.

China unveils world's fastest high speed/Bullet trains capable of reaching 500kmph (310 miles)

China has unveiled the fastest Bullet trains capable of reaching 500 kilometres (310 miles) an hour. The launch is a part of China’s ambitious trillion dollar project to build over 13000 kms of high-speed rail network by 2012.

The train resembles the look of an ancient Chinese sword and is made of plastic materials reinforced with carbon fiber. It has 6 cars with a overall tractive power of 22800 kW. The project is similar to ongoing maglev project by Southwest Jiaotong University. The new launch is significant on the backdrop of recent train accidents in China. In July this year, two high-speed train accident near Wenzhou, killed 40 people. The major issue China faces with the tracks is the use of sub-standard quality material being used in construction. It lead to the Chinese rail authorities having to drop the train speeds to 186 mph from proposed 218 mph.

While China has several other high-speed trains in operation, including monorails traveling at more than 265 mph, this new train is the first that has been entirely developed and built in China by state-owned train maker CSR Corp. Ltd, China's Largest train maker.

TVS Motors to offer Automatic Transmission for two wheelers in 2013

TVS Motor Company today announced the development of a new technology that will enhance fuel efficiency by as much as twenty percent when compared to the conventional technology deployed today. This new technology, termed ‘TVS Automatic Transmission”, developed by TVS Motor Company, employs a Automatic Transmission in place of conventional Continuously Variable Transmission Technology (CVT) which changes gears effortlessly through electronic control, automatically selecting the gear ratios for a particular riding condition. This enables the engine to run at its most efficient RPM (revolutions per minute) for a range of vehicle operating conditions, thereby maximizing the engine performance to achieve peak efficiency, overriding the requirement of a clutch.

"We will introduce the scooter and motorcycle from the second half of 2013.Engine capacity will be from 110 cc.It has fully automatic gearshift and 20 per cent better fuel efficiency compared to conventional technology, with significant reduction in carbon emission", TVS Motor Company (New Product Development) President Vinay Harne told reporters.

He added that acceleration and initial performance would improve with new technology and the engine weight would reduce by 15 per cent.

Noting that the company has filed many patents in India and abroad over the last six years to develop this technology, Harne said the automatic transmission engines would offer the same convenience as in Continuously Variable Transmission technology vehicles.

He did not share the road price, saying it could be higher compared to the existing rates.

Breaking News : Volkswagen Up NOT to be displayed at 2012 Auto Expo

It will be a breaking and a heartbreaking news for all the Volkswagen lovers. Their much anticipated India bound small car, VW Up will not be displayed at 2012 Auto Expo. The car maker has confirmed the launch of the small car in end 2013 or early 2014 but the company has made very clear that the car will not be displayed at the upcoming 2012 Auto Expo.

It also came as a surprise to us when the car maker earlier told that the small car will be displayed for the Indian market, when asked about the same, the officials said, it was planned to be launched in 2013 end but was to be displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo. However, the car maker said the India bound VW Up will be completely different from that seen at earlier global Auto exhibitions. The company officials said that India bound Up will be more exciting and will be tailor made for the Indian market looking at the cost benefits and demands of the common masses.

Seems like the VW group including Skoda, Audi and VW itself are not willing to make the information out to the common masses. Remember, the  name change from Skoda Rapid to Lauretta and then back to Skoda Rapid. The car maker seems to be taking steps with caution after the alliance broke up with Suzuki.

If we believe the company officials, the car is not coming to 2012 Auto Expo, but then what was the car doing in New Delhi and that too being towed away by the Lifting machines ?

Maruti Suzuki to unveil Compact SUV Concept at 2012 Auto Expo : Hints at Jimny/Gypsy successor ?

Maruti Suzuki wants to prove that it will not sit quite and will roar back at everybody who dares to challenge the car maker atleast in Indian market where Maruti Suzuki maintains a majority market share.

It is no doubt the trend of Compact SUV's where in Mahindra's upcoming Xylo, Ford's Ecosport and Premier Rio are some of the Compact SUV's which are slated for a launch/facelift during the 2012 Auto Expo. However, Maruti Suzuki has proved that the car maker too has the capability at its home town, Suzuki and hence the concept of the Compact SUV will be unveiled at 2012 Auto Expo. The hints have been thrown at its website, Maruti Suzuki.

The Concept sports individual rectangular grilles stacked together along with robot-eyed lamps. Teaser images of its Star-shaped alloys and L-Shaped tail lights are also part of the flash slideshow.

The SUV could act as the successor to the famous Jimny/Gypsy as the grille is reminiscent of the current model. Besides Gypsy/Jimny, there are no compact SUVs in its range. Leveraging on the Gypsy’s reliability and cult status is the best possible move Maruti can make with the production version. We guess the product will be ready by Auto Expo 2014.

Let us wait for the first details which are just a couple of days far from us.

Toyota launches the world's most fuel-efficient hybrid car "Aqua"

Toyota Motor Corp on Monday launched the world's most fuel-efficient hybrid car, as the company looks to fight off competition from pure electric vehicles. The compact car, dubbed 'Aqua' in Japan and the 'Prius C' overseas, has a listed fuel efficiency of 35.4 km/litre (83.3 mpg), beating the current top Prius, which gets 32 km/litre. 'Aqua' is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor to drive the five-seater body.

Rivals Nissan Motor Co and General Motors Co are seeking to share the green limelight with their Leaf and Chevrolet Volt electric cars, though sales volumes are expected to stay relatively low until the high price of batteries comes down significantly.

Toyota is aiming for monthly Aqua sales in Japan of 12,000 units, with a starting price of 1.69 million yen ($21,600). The Japanese automaker, which dominates the hybrid field, is aiming to launch about 10 new gasoline-electric models by 2015 and offer a fuel-sipping option across its entire line-up around 2020. The firm last week forecast a 20% surge in 2012 sales as it recovers from the March earthquake in Japan and flooding in Thailand that hit production around the world.

City gas retailers including Indraprastha Gas Ltd, which supplies CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in the national capital, are likely to announce fuel price revision over the weekend, sources privy to the development said.IGL had last raised CNG in Delhi by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 32 per kg from October 1.

Sources said the hike was necessitated because IGL and other city gas firms were being forced to buy expensive imported LNG as supplies from Reliance Industries' eastern offshore KG-D6 gas field have dried-up due to fall in output. Also, the rupee depreciation has made raw material -- that is, natural gas from Reliance, state-owned GAIL and imported LNG -- even costlier.

New improved Toyota Innova unveiled

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has finally unveiled the much awaited Improved Innova. The Toyota Innova once upon a time when firstly launched in Innova was a difficult to digest kind of a vehicle for all the car lovers because of its van like shape and almond shaped front lamps. However, the perception of everybody changed when people actually went inside the car and drove it. It was a complete change of perception and was a pleasure for people to drive because of its ride and handling quality.

Toyota has maintained the standards of its ride and handling qualities but has made the car look more upmarket with little tweaks on inside and outside of the car. On the Outside, the car has more rectangular front lamps and clear lensed tail lamps which make it look more upmarket. The front grill is more wider and resembles that of its Camry Sedan. The side profile is more or less similar to the previous one.

However, on the Interiors the car has included the integrated touch system similar to that in Toyota Fortuner. The ride quality and rest of the interiors remains the same which are already of the good quality.
