Mitsubishi rolls out new Mirage along with the concept car PX-MiEV for Tokyo

As all our readers would already know that Mitsubishi is coming with the Concept car PX-MiEV at the Tokyo Auto Show. Now it has also been revealed that along with the concept, Mitsubishi will also roll out small hatchback Mirage for the Tokyo market.

The Mirage is the production version of the Global Small Concept that was first shown in Geneva earlier this year. This B segment hatchback measures 3,710mm long, 1,665mm wide and 1490mm high and is specifically developed for the emerging markets like India and Brazil.

To combat with the rising fuel prices, Mitsubishi is gone to great lengths to make sure that the Mirage delivers the best possible mileage – a mindboggling 30km/lt. The company has taken the help of lightweight materials, a reduction in rolling resistance and higher efficiency through detailed improvements to the engine, transmission, brakes, tires, and aerodynamics, all aimed to help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Regenerative braking and auto start-stop technology will also be available.

An electric version of the Mirage is also on its way for global markets. This small car could also be the one to be launched in the Indian market, as the carmaker has plans to launch a small car for the Indian market. Will this be revealed at Indian Auto Expo 2012? Big question as the company's silence on the matter could be either side.
