Maruti Suzuki India Limited has decided to shut its Gurgaon plant for 2 days starting 14th and 15th October 2011. The reason as stated by the company is due to the component shortage from SPIL, Suzuki Powertrain India Limited which makes Engines and Transmission for Maruti cars.
Though the production of Maruti 800, Alto, WagonR, Omni and Eeco will not be affected but the company says it is not viable to run the plant if the appropriate capacity is not available and hence has decided to shut down the plant for 2 days.
The Production at its Gurgaon plant was already on a slow pace, the production at Gurgaon plant was 600 vehicles on Saturday instead of a regular schedule of 2,800 vehicles per day.
Workers at SPIL and Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) have gone on a simultaneous strike since October 7 in support of their colleagues at MSI Manesar plant.
The Haryana Labour Department today filed a civil suit in a Gurgaon court alleging that that unions of SPIL and SMIPL and representatives of MSI' Manesar plant workers had violated agreement and action must be taken agains them.
