Mahindra to come up with Electric Car for Indian market by 2013

New Model Launches have been the latest trend these days. Almost every Car manufactures whether Indian or Global has plans to launch new models. The trend is most commonly seen in Emerging markets like India, China, Brazil etc.

But the case with Mahindra is a little different. You must be wondering how ?

Mahindra's unlike other OEM's do not have one or two models lined up for Indian market but multiple models for the Indian market. Mahindra's are up to launching Compact Xylo, Ssangyong Rexton, Korando, but also an Electric Vehicle for the Indian market. The Mahindra's have officially told that they will be out with an Electric Vehicle by 2013, the car is currently in the final stages of conceptualization and the production would start during 2012, however also keeping in mind the Economic Scenario and Indian Infratsructure to afford the electric cars in India.

Also, Mahindra's have disclosed that they have finalized the deal for supplying Battery for the Electric car, which forms the major part in the EV, with Samsung SDI and Bosch which have a Joint Venture for production of li-ion batteries for the Electric Vehicle.

Mahindra's also have joint venture with Reva for having technology in place for Electric Vehicles.
