Kia Motors to build new manufacturing plant in China, to launch new models soon

South Korean automobile manufacturer, Kia Motors said that it is building a  new manufacturing plant in China with the help of its Chinese partner, Dongfeng Motors.

Kia Motors currently has an installed capacity of 430,000 vehicles and the new plant to be constructed will have an additional capacity of 300,000 vehicles thus taking overall Kia China's capacity to 730,000 vehicles. The new manufacturing plant will be ready by 2014.

Kia, an affiliate of Hyundai Motors, makes cars in China in a tie-up with Dongfeng Motor Group Co Ltd and Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co Ltd.

Hyundai Motor also plans to start production at its third China plant next year, bringing its total annual capacity to 1 million units.
