The Vauxhall Astra VXR has been unveiled hot on the heels of the Astra GTC Coupe we recently tested. It will be the most powerful Astra in history.
Based on the GTC's platform and powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine, the Vauxhall Astra VXR produces 280hp of power and a mighty 400Nm of torque, enough for it to achieve a top speed of 155mph.
It will also put it near the top of the hot hatch pile for outright speed, beating the Renaultsport Megane 250 and 250bhp SEAT Leon Cupra R. Only four-wheel drive hatchbacks like the Audi RS3 have more power.
