Even as the strike at the Nasik plant of Ceat Tyres entered its third day on Sunday, the company has expressed hope that it will be able to resolve the crisis soon.
The strike at the plant, located in the Satpur MIDC area of North Maharashtra, started at midnight on Thursday after a fight between a permanent employee and an employee on contract.
The company employs 2,000 workers at the Nasik plant, out of which 800 are on a contract basis, employed by 11 contractors.
"The problem started on Thursday night when an employee of the company and a contractual employee had a fight over some personal issues. Both of them were hospitalized following this and both have lodged complaints with the local police, who are investigating the case," Deshpande said.
