New Audi A3 e-tron to deliver mileage of 100kmpl - Debut Planned for Next Year's Geneva Show

At this year's Geneva Salon, Audi gave us a first glimpse at the next generation of its A3 series with a sport sedan concept packing a mighty 408-horses under its hood.

Now, we learn that the Ingolstadt automaker will return to the Swiss show next year with the actual production version of its premium C-segment model. The third generation of the A3 will be lighter and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor while Audi will expand the range to include more variants.

The original A3 sedan concept that bowed in Geneva came packing a modified version of the TT RS' turbocharged five-cylinder, outputting over 400 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. This etron variant – based on the RS3 hatch – ditches the five-pot in favor of a turbo'd and direct-injected 1.4-liter four-cylinder that brings 211 horsepower to the party, and combined with another 27 ponies pulled from the 20kW electric motor, can propel the A3 etron to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds before topping out at 143 mph. Under this cylinder deactivation mode, when you are driving the car at a constant speed of 50 kmph, you get an amazing driving on-road mileage of 100 kmpl!!!

With less than six months remaining before its official launch, the A3 is practically ready. Sielaff, however, ends with another revelation concerning Audi’s plans: “We are currently working on the TT successor, the new Q7, the R8 successor and the next A4/A5 family.”
