Magna powertrain builds a new Greenfield facility in China

Magna International's powertrain unit has announced plans to construct a new manufacturing plant at the Tianjin Airport Economic Area where it will produce rear axle drives and power take-off units for locally assembled Volkswagen and Audi Models. This all attributes to the growing economy of Chinese economy and majorly due to China being the biggest automotive market in the market.

The 13,500-sq-meter facility is expected to be completed in 2012 and will employ as many as 400 people when it reaches full production. Magna Powertrain has three locations in China, including sales and engineering centers at Shanghai and Changzhou and a manufacturing facility at Changzhou.
