Lifan starts building second assembly plant

Lifan Group Co. Disclosed its plant for its second vehicle assembly plant in the Liangjiang new district of the southwest China municipality of Chongqing.

The production of the new plant is expected to start in the next year with an investment of 3.5 billion yuan. With the initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles, Lifan will lift its capacity to 400,000 vehicles from a current capacity of 250,000 vehicles. It currently produces Lifan's 320, 520 and 620 cars and the X60 SUV.

Lifan sold 118,461 light vehicles, including 71,459 passenger vehicles and 47,002 microvans and light trucks, during the period January to September 2011 as compared to 78,451 vehicles sold during the same period last year this registering a 51% increase.
