Mahindra's XUV 5OO is scheduled to be launched on 28 September 2011, whereas the SUV was caught on the roads of Chennai while Mahindra was having its final test on the roads.
These are a few images of the SUV . Although Mahindra's SUVs have never been accredited as 'good lookers' the new XUV500 might change the trend with its strong looks which are both rugged and trendy. The SUV will boast features like turn indicators on rear view mirrors, daytime running lamps and new alloy work.
The monster will be powered with a CRDe common rail turbo diesel engine producing a 140 Bhp and 320 Nm with its 2.2 litre displacement derived from the Scorpio SUV's engine. It will be integrated to a five or six speed manual transmission system with a four wheel drive as standard. To be launched on 28th September the XUV500 will fetch good market in India and South Africa, and has been discussed for almost an year now.
